PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES

Currently accepting new clients

We specialize in helping clients with Chronic Pain, Perfectionism, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Trauma.

Trauma

Trauma occurs when we are given more in this life than we can bear to consciously experience. Traumatic events can be caused by the following: childhood trauma, invasive surgeries, car accidents, loss of a loved one, domestic abuse, loss of a job, career or wealth, natural disasters, social injustice, poverty, and many others.

We can analyze together how your past shows up in the present. By understanding your unique history, the goal would be to heal old memories, process associated emotions, and move forward with a feeling of wholeness.

Perfectionism

Perfectionism is usually first learned as a family enterprise, a way of being in the world that has big expectations of ourselves and other people. When we are perfectionistic, there is a tendency to try to fit an ideal image of self into an expectation — like the visualizing a job interview as going perfect and we answer every question with ease and competence. When the interview does not go perfectly, we then become very harsh on ourselves.

With these clients, we tend to work with Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, or Jungian-orientated Therapy.

Dissociation

Dissociation can have a huge impact on our perception of self and the world around us. When we dissociate, often it is accompanied by automatic fantasies that may or may not connect to the situation we have unconsciously detached from. This feeling of detachment could also be described as feeling beside one’s self, not being present in the moment, which can distort our memories, sometimes leaving big gaps when trying to remember what happened earlier in the day.

Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder is a mental health disorder that is characterized by an intense fear of abandonment and/or rejection as a basis for creating or avoiding the establishment of intimate and social relationships. Generally, this pattern of relating to others stems from childhood and the relationships established with parents or primary care-givers, relationships with siblings, and initial peer groups in early adolescence. A variety of psychotherapy treatments exist for these clients such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems-informed Therapy, and Transference-focused Psychotherapy in addition to skills-based education such as breathing & grounding techniques.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is a kind of pain that last for months. This type of pain can be infrequent or continual, lasting for 12 hours or more a day. The most common causes of chronic pain are arthritis, fibromyalgia and low back pain.
Chronic pain may be caused sensitization. Sensitization occurs when your nervous system amplifies and distorts pain. The pain that is registered is severe and out of proportion to the original cause of your chronic pain, and therefore is no longer adaptive like acute pain.

Chronic pain often causes psychological problems that are sometimes long-lasting such as depressive mood states and anxiety. These concerns, along with other psychological impacts caused by Chronic Pain, can be worked through in psychotherapy.

Life Coaching

Coaching is an intimate process for becoming the leader of your mind, body, and spirit. When you’re in charge of your Self, you are able to unfold your own unlived life. You are able to take up space and follow through on your goals.

By challenging your patterns of beliefs and assumptions about your Self, others and the world, you learn to align your actions with important goals. Decisiveness begins to trade out hesitation, and withdrawing becomes replaced by self expression and presence.

Coaching is a collaboration between you and your coach where they supply the coordinates for your focused transformation of Self and vision.
